Sugar and Carb Cravings Help.
When you begin your day with natural foods and sugar only from fruits, your cravings can be kept under control. Natural foods, or foods without a yard of ingredients can set your entire day for success. So what does this look like?
- No artificial sweeteners, which can set cravings for more and more sugar, not to mention all the toxins that can cause brain disorders or cancer.
- Limit alcohol
- Buy organic to eliminate pesticides in produce
- Eliminate preservatives in meats by purchasing organic
- Eat raw and cooked vegetables every day (6 servings is ideal)
- Berried fruits are a better choice because of fiber
Know Your Trigger Food(s)
Sugar and carb cravings can be set off by trigger foods, such as chips, breads, or sweets. For instance, if I have a salad and want to have a few gluten free crackers to crunch on, then I can guarantee you, five or six will not be enough. Crackers are like my kryptonite and I will devour a small box of crackers before nightfall. So, even though a snack product like this is “healthy”, it’s a total trigger food for me, and I will snack the rest of the afternoon.
Long before going on a weight loss journey, my mornings started with a bowl of cereal or a toasted bagel. Those grains and breads set off my cravings for the rest of the day, and I see it over and over with the health clients I work with.
Carb Cravings – Snacks to Hold You Over
Don’t go around hungry! Nuts are a healthy snack to help you get to the next meal. Nuts offer healthy fats, known as Omegas, plus protein to hold you over. Omega fats help your heart, brain, skin, and even your mood. You will find omega 9 fats in almonds, sunflower seeds, almonds, macadamia nuts, and olive oil.
Protect Yourself In the Office
Be mindful of what foods you surround yourself with and learn to protect yourself in toxic environments like your office. Well-meaning people in offices across the nation love to celebrate with food, and many people send their leftover cakes and cookies with their spouse to the office, to get the temptations out of their own home. Arm yourself with healthy snacks and fruits and try to eliminate setting your eyes on these unhealthy temptations.
