Was your Grandma right?
Who has time to read a dissertation on how to improve digestion? I’ll break it down for you.
If keeping you regular involves grandma’s remedies like milk of magnesia, castor oil, and over the counter laxatives, then maybe it’s time to do some investigation.
Grandma may have been well trained in fixing what was wrong, but prevention for future diet disasters never seemed to make it beyond the next family gathering table filled with grease and high octane carb favorites.
Did you know that constipation can put your body in a toxic state? Yes, if you don’t eliminate, then the long-term effects can lead to fatigue, headaches, and even brain fog.
So when you go, do you go quickly or does it take a newspaper and magazine to help you finish? You really want this process to be quick and often! Many experts suggest elimination after every meal, but don’t worry, we are all different. Once per day is a good average.
Before we move into food sensitivities, heartburn, bacteria, glucose and the small intestine, let’s take a look at the miracle our body really is.
Did you know? Digestion really starts in the mouth.
Here are two things you can do to improve your elimination process:
- Chew your food thoroughly and begin that digestion process. There are a lot of enzymes in our saliva that begin to break down food. This can also help to prevent gas.
- Drink water! Why? Your body needs water! If you don’t drink water, then your body will pull it out of your stool, which makes it much more difficult in elimination.
