Weight Loss Before and After
Do You Match Your Driver’s License Weight?
That’s me, Cathy Rodgers, on the left back in the fall of 2012 at a Diabetes Walk (almost ready for diabetes myself). That’s the day I had my blood pressure taken and for the the first time in my life the readings were super high. That’s me on the right after losing 40 pounds! I got back to my driver’s license weight goal at the 30 lb mark! From “rolling out” of a size 14-16 down to a size 6 and now a size 4.
So what are the other results? My blood pressure has decreased, my cholesterol levels have gone down and my sugar readings have improved. I avoided the pharmaceutical lifestyle and I’m happy to report I take no medications now.
How Did I do it?
In the beginning, I was not going to the gym, but did get out to walk or bike 3-4 times per week. I keep my sugar levels even by eating foods low on the glycemic scale. One of the biggest diet changes was stopping my 40+ years of eating cereal for breakfast, which started with Cocoa Krispies and ended with granolas. This tended to set my cravings for the day and they never seemed to stop. Now I eat steel cut oatmeal, eggs, or fix a protein and fiber filled smoothie.
I try to avoid processed grain products and eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. When I have a craving. I also eat something good every 2-3 hours like carrots, grapes, a high fiber bar or an apple.
